Hans-Jurg Hunziker of Switzerland designed the Vernacular trilogy whiles the was employed by Adrian Frutiger in Paris for several years. Following an erasable Linear Antiqua he designed an extensive font series ideal for book and corporate design. He succeeds in his endeavour since he is applying the lessons that he has learnt in “Swiss schools” in addition to presenting individually crafted designs that annex an elegant as well as warm character to the typefaces. There are 3 font families next to Sans: Sans – of course, Serif, and Clarendon – 12 fonts in all that nicely complement each other with regards to their weight.
Every font style has a distinct character; however, there is no overpowering cohesion between them since they are designed to be pulled closer and work in harmony and also share a lot of similarity. Sans and Clarendon fonts both have vertical axes with terminal points close in appearance to each other, while serif uses diagonal axis in addition to horizontal terminal points. These typography trilogies need a straight stem and proportions to make people understand that these three types of typography are very close to each other and this aspect brings the unification of the typography designs.
