Plak was originally created in 1928. Remains a gem in the realm of typography history. While it draws inspiration from Futuras creator Paul Renner Plak never gained the level of recognition as Futura did. Nevertheless designers Linda Hintz and Toshi Omagari, from Monotype revitalized Plak by transforming three existing weights from wood type into a collection that upholds its artistic legacy even today.
Renner created a typeface, with 60 variations that blend characteristics with a touch of precision as described by Hintz.
