Lovelace was designed by Cosimo Lorenzo Pancini, Andrea Tartarelli and Maria Chiara Fantini and pay homage to the 19th Century “Old Style” typography; an offshoot of Renaissance hand-lettered designs inspired by Bodonian serifs for less formal, more social alternatives in Bodonian serifs. We took inspiration from Pheimester or Alexander Kay’s calligraphic curves as well as heavily angled serifs that inspired Goudy and Benguiat in the 70s additionally we added sophistication by employing another style called Elzevir from this revival period of 19th Century revival This digital homage to Victorian typography, named for Lord Byron’s daughter and named after Victoria herself is designed in two optical sizes and six weights ranging from extralight to superbold.
Text versions provide optimal readability due to large screen-friendly designs with reduced x-height while display versions display superior detail and contrast needed for editorial applications or large-size titling needs.
