Kabel, designed by German designer Rudolf Koch and released by Klingspor Foundry since 1927. Kabel belongs to a “geometric” style of sans serifs that became increasingly popular across Germany during its inception year of 1927.
Its design is loosely inspired by straight lines and circles; however, there are several distinctive choices in its construction, such as an x-height that is delicately low (while greater for heavier weight) with tilted ‘e’ terminals to add elegance and suggest chic calligraphy – two areas in which Koch excels. Also there have been multiple rereleases and digitizations versions developed over time.
