The region of Abruzzo in central Italy, on the Adriatic coast, has for its motto ‘Forte Et Gentile’ or ‘strong and gentle’. This motto speaks of the typeface of the same name, which has precise serifs with almost invisible joints – and, as befits a region of central Italy, it attracts visitors from across Italy. This type of font is called e-typeface with high contrast; it has an ample height and a lot of character. Standard Ligatures for managing the interactions between short glyphs like an F and tall glyphs are incorporated in its library of features.
For the icing on the cake, Abruzzo offers more than 40 optional ligatures including the standard st and ch and less common ones such as fy, fr and rw; here’s a poster with all of them listed!
