Simplified designs have replaced the more complicated designs that incorporate more than just simple letters. More recently, however, our attention has been drawn back to simpler lettering forms such as the recent release of SPKK-PF Parachute. This is PF Spekk, an elegant geometric variable typeface that was recently brought back from early 1900s archives, and shows a struggle between square, triangle and circle in its structure. In comparing with other geometric monoline fonts, PF Spekk has added rather organic curves to the sharp edges of strokes where they meet with the horizontal terminals or open counters with well-proportioned apertures for improved readability at small sizes.
It also has a warmth and friendliness that is not often found in such strict geometric monoline work; its strengths are many – short caps, good geometry across styles, sensible italic, etc.
