This font is a general and universal typeface but not so plain and monotonous and not so much unique that is does not look familiar. It is named after Raymond A. Ballinger, one the great American designers of mid twentieth century, who wrote the ‘Lettering Art in Modern Use’ and was a proponent of elegance and readability. Ballinger features big countertops and a very high x-height. The baseline of a, e, and s extend and expand from the Thin to the Black weights to retain openness even in the densest styles.
Figures that are semi-oldstyle are also available, including case sensitive punctuation and delimiters. Italics add soft ogee curves to the page or screen to warm the space and give the appearance of energy.
