Frozen is an animated fantasy film produced in partnership with Walt Disney Animation Studios. It’s loosely inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s fairytale, “The Snow Queen”, first published in 1844 and depicting the battle of good against evil. Screenwriter Jennifer Lee joined the crew in March 2012 and used many sources as sources of inspiration while writing its screenplay.
Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, directors of Frozen, stated that the art department traveled to Norway in order to take inspiration from both its natural environment and culture for creating the Frozen setting and culture influence from Scandinavian culture.
