Matt Carter designed Tahoma as one of the Microsoft standard fonts which came out with Windows 95. Microsoft released this font standard alongside Verdana typefaces which Carter designed for them. The typography style of Tahoma matches the characteristics of Humanist sans serif font type Fruiter. During an interview Daniel Will-Harris Carter revealed that Bell Centennial includes elements which Tahoma also contains.
