Asar can be described as both an original Devanagari and Latin typeface inspired by an expanding brush stroke that follows a heart shape, designed for long text while remaining attractive when used large dimensions. Asar was partially inspired by Pria Ravichadran’s Palanquin by taking into consideration overall proportions, heart lines, glyph sets and OpenType features.
Design takes on its own distinctive character through variable brush stroke counts, creating greater spacing and varied shapes. Fontlab Studio 5’s Expand Path feature offers one such brush with dimensions of 93 pixels width, an angle of -55 and roundness 35; most letters should not require further adjustments, however these may be made manually as necessary.
