Philipp Neumeyer had thought Norbert canonical but instead he turns out to be an enjoyably radical assortment. For Norbert that means growing indifferent and becoming Grotesque because early hot metal styles where fostered by their ambiguities and future gazing tendencies – something Philipp never wanted for self. And that is why Norbert is popular for bringing harmony, diversity, and the familiar to any setting and with his three weights are available in two widths: reduced (Schmal) as well as extended (Breit).
Each is complete with the two kursiv designs, as well as the backslanted Kontra Backslanted designs to cap it. Norbert was designed with purpose: not as a general width font with different font width variations and with interpolated fonts; it has its character and potential in the special several styles which were each conceived with intention; each of them offering editorial or identity project possibilities.
